«Zarechnaya» mining Co Ltd, one of the most agile units of the multi business organization «Kuzbass», was started in July, 2008. It comprises three mines: «Zarechnaya Mine» open joint stock company, «Alexyevskaya Mine» open joint stock company and «Karagaylinskoye Mine Management Office» Co Ltd which is now under construction and some ancillary services.

The main strategic principles of the company are modern methods of the labour management, large investment in manufacturing renewal, adoption of new technologies and equipment, agile social policy, which permits to achieve a steady growth of coal output volume, increase of labour productivity, improvement of product quality, efficiency of marketing policy, and safety of production.

The coal mines are involved in excavating coal of GAS, LoFl, Fa grades, processing it, mining and strip mining of mineral deposits. Coal reserves make up 341,3 million tons.

Coals of all grades have sulphur content of 0,7 %, high combustion value of 6300-8200 kcal/kg, are low-ash and occur in beds from 1,5 m to 5,3 m. thickness.

The quality of coals allow to apply them as high-quality power fuel, as furnace feed in coke production, and also as powdered-coal fuel in blast-furnace and cement production.

Thanks to the modern technologies applied at processing of coal, «Zarechnaja» has proved a reliable supplier of high-quality products. The company exports more than 90% of its products. Companies of coke and chemical industry, power industry and other industries from more than 15 countries of the world, including Spain, Great Britain, Japan, Korea, the Netherlands, are among the consumers.

In 2009 «Zarechnaja» obtained a licence for exploration and extraction of coals of Gas, Fa, HaCa grades at the site of «Seraphimovsky» of Ushakovsky coalfield. «Zarechnaya» mine is planned to extract 14 mln. tons annually by 2013. By 2020 the volume of output will increase to 20 mln. tons.

The company priorities for the medium-range future include construction of a concentrating complex " Aleksievskaya Mine " open joint stock company, putting into operation «Karagaykinskoye Mine Management Office» Co Ltd, prospecting and extracting coal at Seraphimovsky site, with construction of a mine, concentrating factory, approach line, and a company for deep processing of coal. Generation of electrical and thermal energy, producing a wide range of chemical products and building materials is planned.

The company actively participates in implementation of a railway transportation development program of Kuzbass with reconstruction of «Proyektnaya» station and construction of a junction to «Zarechnaya» mine. A similar junction will be constructed in the future to «Alexiyevskaya» mine. A technical training college with teaching facilities will be built. The company products are shipped through the ports of Russia, Ukraine and the Baltic republics, in particular, through the port of Ventspils. An up-to date terminal for coal transfer is being constructed there. The terminal is equipped with modern processing facilities meeting all requirements of ecological safety, and makes it possible to improve the quality of coal by crushing, purification and magnetic separation. The first starting complex with annual capacity of processing 6 million tons of coal was put into operation in November, 2008.
